Lab # 10

The results for this lab were very interesting and surprising to us! Out of about 10 people that we interviewed, only one person said they would sell their right to vote. (The $0 signs mean that they would not sell their right to vote, not that they don't value it.) We found this surprising considering the low voter turnout in the U.S. However, it is possible that people still value this right even if they don't take advantage of it.
In general, voting is good for social capital because it unifies the nation as a whole. This lab showed that social capital in this area is better than expected and that people do care about the community around them because they think its important to be involved in it through voting.

Lab # 18

For this lab, we picked a place where drawing can be seen pretty well for students which is stairs infront of the high school dorm. The drawing says 'Social Capitalism' and between two words,
there is a drawing of a broken pencil and several pencils that are not broken.
It is illustration of what Mr. Milner illustrated in class about Social Capitalism and it shows the power of bonding between people.

Lab #2

At first when I gave up my cell phone I felt very confident that I would be able to handle not using it for 31 hours. After the first few hours though the temptation grew to use it and to read and return text messages I was receiving. I now know how dependent I am on my cell phone and just technology in general. My cell phone is my most used means of communication usually and it is really hard to ignore it. I have to say that I was more productive when I was not using my cell phone though. I was able to complete assignments faster and have time to do extra things. Overall I think it is really hard to live without technology, but at times it is necessary.

Lab #12

We feel like social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace are excellent ways to communicate and keep in touch with friends. Since we do not live at home anymore it is nice to talk to friends from old schools and summer programs we have attended. Many people think that these sites take away from what it means to be a true "friend" and we do agree that it changes the friendship you have with a person in some ways, but we do not think it destroys it completely. Overall we believe that Facebook and Myspace are convenient ways to stay in contact.
